Steve Jobs = 10,000 tweets/second

As a developer, I haven’t always agreed with everything that Jobs has done (Flash, anyone?). However, I have always respected that his vision for Apple (and Apple consumers) was so clear and game-changing that he could stand by his decisions to the end, so to speak.

What is next for Apple? The doubt already abounds regarding just exactly what COO and interim CEO Tim Cook will do with this company, that is not only at the peak of its own career, but at the peak of technology in general. Jobs has certainly planted many an Apple seed along the way. It is up to the next generation of creative thinkers to keep the big ideas growing.

56 is far too young. I hope that the next generation of game changers will take a break from all of the screens and get outside to get some fresh air on a daily basis. That thing that Apple et al. serve up -a macrocosmic 24 hour tangible representation of actual life (i.e. the internet at large) – is still out there. And it is ripe for the picking! Just don’t forget to document it with your nearest device.

I was referred by a family friend and not only have they turned out to be extremely capable of producing the highest quality print products, they are friendly folks, too!

On a recent morning I went to approve a hard proof of a new set of business cards that I designed for my client, Stephen E. Francis, Ph. D.. While I was there, I got to take a tour and learn more about their machines.

All Star has the full spectrum of print technology at their fingertips, from the industry ubiquitous Apple computers to their many fine yet robust print machines spanning the decades (see photos).

All Star Printing serves a broad spectrum of clients including the Sacramento Waldorf School and the 5 year old Citrus Heights Police Department. This printer can fulfill a wide range of print needs, from forms and envelopes, to high-end invitations, marketing, annual reports, event tickets, and special projects. I work closely with their in house team to make sure each and every product we turn out is a reflection of our dedication to excellence in print.

They have won many accolades for their work, and have been in business for 35 years. Contact me today to learn more about the possibilities of print!

After carefully lining up the paper, Andrew makes the cut (at right). The operator has to press two buttons at the same time in order to make the machine cut the paper.

I just completed the Web Production course at the Academy of Web Design, Cerro Coso Community College. The course is the “capstone” for the Associate of Science in Web Design program.

We had 8 weeks as individual teams of 3 to learn Joomla! well enough to create a custom installation, and prepare/disseminate over a hundred pages of communication and training materials, and well as to develop the actual site.

The course was competitive, and I am pleased to say that my theme in particular was selected by the client for final publication. The whole class worked very, very hard, and we all learned a great deal.

Here is a screen shot from the new site:

You can learn more about it here: www.ridgecrestcommunitycalendar.com
